What legal advice can we help with?

Wills

Do you have a Will? If so when did you last review it?

If you don’t make a Will the law stipulates how your money and property is divided. The intestacy laws are old fashioned and depend on your marital status and bloodline. There is no provision for unmarried partners and the results are often less than ideal for inheritance tax or care fees planning.

If you want to decide who should benefit from your estate and what they should receive it is imperative that you have a Will.

However Wills are not just about money and property. If you have children under the age of 18 then you need to consider who will provide their day-to-day care if both parents have died. You should also give thought to who shall look after your pets.

A correctly prepared Will can save a lot of worry and make life less stressful for those left behind. By preparing a Will appropriate to your circumstances, you can potentially save money on Inheritance Tax, ensure that your family’s needs are met and protect some of your assets from possible future Care Fees. It also prevents legal costs being incurred in your loved ones having to apply to the Courts to request financial provision.

We are happy to discuss your particular circumstances in complete confidence at any of our offices in Lansdowne, Moordown or Highcliffe or in the comfort of your own home.

Making a will with one of our experienced lawyers is straight forward.

·         Simply call to arrange an appointment. Most last 45-60 mins.

·         We shall meet you and discuss your family and financial circumstances.

·         We prepare a draft will for your approval.

·         We then arrange a second appointment for the will to be signed.

We offer a full wills execution service; providing members of staff to act as your independent witnesses. We also offer secure storage for the wills in our strongrooms free of charge.

We offer fixed fees for basic wills and sets of mirror wills for couples. For more complex work we are able to provide you with an estimate of our costs in writing once we have received your instructions at the first meeting.
