What is your specialism?

Family Law – Divorce, Finance and Children.

What type of work do you do on a day-to-day basis?

I focus on keeping clients informed and advised on their file. I regularly liaise with the courts and various third parties involved in each case, ensuring files are progressing smoothly. I also work closely with barristers, discussing the details of cases and strategies. Other parts of my day consist of drafting legal documents and replying to clients.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I enjoy working with colleagues and figuring out strategies and discussing our interpretation of the law. I find those discussions really helpful and interesting to see the different approaches to deal with matters. I also love the chance to interact with different people throughout the day, whether it's clients, barristers or others involved in the case.

Can you share a success story which led to a favourable outcome for a client?

One of the most rewarding cases I worked on involved non-disclosure of matrimonial assets and assets that were being dissipated. The case involved a husband who had sold a property and kept all the proceeds, with a significant amount being unaccounted for.

After tracing a paper trail, we uncovered a written agreement that showed that money had been set aside. To get to the bottom of it, we had to issue a witness summons for an individual (who I can’t identify) and secure various court orders, including penal notices. In the end, our client was able to recover the majority of the funds set aside which she could then use to purchase a new property for herself and her family.

The case was particularly challenging as it involved several layers, including non-disclosure, conduct issues, solicitor malpractice, cross-jurisdictional elements, private investigators, and the use of a cross-border process server.
