What legal advice can we help with?

Lease Extensions

Our experienced Residential Property Team are here to advise and guide you on the process involved in extending your lease. Should you discover that the lease term on your property has fewer than 75 years to run it is advisable to apply to the landlord to extend your lease to avoid having difficulties in selling your property.  Mortgage lenders are reluctant to lend against properties where the lease term is low. Should you wish to sell your property it is important that this issue is resolved quickly and efficiently.

We are regularly instructed by both landlords and tenants regarding not only extending leases but also alternative options that are available. Leasehold owners are often unaware of their legal rights which may include acquiring the Right to Manage their own properties or purchasing the freehold from the landlord.  We can discuss with you all the options available to you in your capacity as either a landlord or a tenant to enable you to be in a position to be confident about your decision on how best to proceed.
